How to Get Rid Of The Dry Skin Beneath The Eyes Once And For All

Let me ask you a simple question. Do you get that dry skin around the eyes?

It seems to be a more common problem in middle age. In this article, I’m going to show you what you can do to get rid of it once and for all.

The skin around our eyes is the most fragile area of skin on our face. We have fewer layers of skin in this area, and fewer oil glands as well. It is very important to pay special care when performing our daily skin care rituals.

If left unchecked, this dry skin beneath the eyes will eventually turn into wrinkles. Something that none of us want.

First, let’s look at some of the causes, and then we can look at ways to prevent it. As I mentioned, this area of skin is the most fragile because of this, it will be the first area to show the effects of stress, improper nutrition, dehydration, lack of sleep, and smoking (for those that still do).

Simple things that you can do that are all part of a healthy lifestyle:

  • Drink adequate amounts of water to prevent dehydration.
  • Get well balance proper nutrition.
  • Take measures to avoid stress.
  • Get proper amount of sleep (6-8 hours/night).
  • Stop smoking.

But even doing all of these things is not going to be enough to prevent first the dry skin, and then the wrinkles, unless we take even further special care with our daily skin care habits.

You need to use a special product just for the area around your eyes, to give it extra protection against the elements. But a caution – don’t choose just any eye gel or cream on the market. Many of them are of poor quality, and are basically wasting your time letting you believe that they are doing the job.

Finding an eye cream that has the best active ingredients and will actually help eliminate the fine lines and wrinkles is key. It’s all about the ingredients put in the product that will allow you to get out of the product the healthy, younger skin you want. Look for active ingredients such as:

Eyeliss™ and Haloxyl™ – Both clinically proven to help remove the bags under the eye, and the puffiness that is often around the eye.

Homeo Age™ – An anti-aging ingredient proven to help reduce wrinkles.

Cynergy TK ™ - Clinically proven to stimulate the regrowth of collagen, elastin and new skin cells

These are just some of the ingredients you should be looking for in an eye cream if you want it to be effective in helping you maintain a more youthful look with fewer lines and wrinkles.

But where do you find a product that contains high quality ingredients such as these? Go to my website, where you can educate yourself about what ingredients you most want and need in any skin care product.

Super Mom – Strategies for Safe, Torment Free Lice Management for All Moms!

“Mom, the teacher said I have LICE!”

Funny how such a simple and innocent statement can make your blood curl.

For some reason, lice seem to be synonymous with Back-To-School, at least with young kids. I’ve always wondered why it happens to be so… Where do they hide during the summer? Since they travel from head to head, who brought them to the classroom or daycare center in the first place?

Wherever and whomever they come from, when your child brings them home, one thing is certain — they are a real pain! Yucky! Gross! Nothing good about them! And they take over your home and free time for a couple of weeks.

The best way to handle these pesky little critters is calmly and methodically. A lot easier said than done, I know, but it’s the only way to keep your sanity/

There are many ways to get rid of head lice. I personally prefer the good old fashion way of combing them out.

Pesticide based products are harmful to you and your child’s health and there is plenty of evidence that they are causing lice to become resistant. This simply means you are going to need more poison in stronger and higher doses to get rid of those nasty little bugs.

Pesticides also have no effect on nits, just the live adult lice and will need to be repeated at least three times for you to have peace of mind. This is because it takes about 10 days for nits to hatch and another 10 days for them to mature and reproduce.

Here are a few tips to help you manage head lice naturally and effectively

1. Stay calm

Yes those little bugs are a nuisance and you can’t help but feel disgusted by them. And when you see them crawling around your child’s head.. well let’s just say it isn’t a pretty sight!

But there’s no need to panic as that will only make things harder to manage for you and your child. Take a deep breath and get ready for battle!

Remember that lice do not care about social economics and are just as likely to plant their nits on the head of a clean and wealthy kid, as they are on one that belongs to a street kid. In fact, lice prefer clean heads as the hair shaft is easier to adhere to. Dirty oily hair does not please a louse looking to hatch her batch of nits.

2. Make it an educational experience

When my five year old came home with lice, she had a lot of questions. So we got on the computer and watched a handful of videos. She was fascinated and asked a lot of interesting question.

She did not for a second freak out about those little bugs crawling around on her head. That made taking the time to comb them out a much more pleasant experience. As I combed out some live ones she looked at them and was fascinated.

This is certainly a lot easier than handling a kid who is freaking out about the whole experience. Remember your child will take his cue from you.

3. Get rid of the lice!

Set your child in front of an educational program on TV and get combing!

There are plenty of methods that you can use to numb or suffocate the lice to get them off the hair easily. I personally use a natural mouse that is rosemary based so it has a pleasant smell.

Using a special nit comb, methodically comb through the hair from one side to the next, combing all the way through to the end of the hair, and frequently wiping the comb on a clean towel. Reverse the direction and comb again.

Comb again from front to back, and lastly from the neck to the forehead.

This process will take a good half hour at least, depending on the length and thickness of your child’s hair, but you must be patient and diligent. It is the most effective way of removing nits and lice.

You’ll want to repeat the comb through at least two more times, at three day intervals as it is easy to leave one little nit behind. And the last thing you want is another infestation.

Once you have combed through, you can coat your child’s head in coconut or olive oil, place a shower cap over it, and wrap with a bandana. Leave it overnight and rinse clean in the morning.

4. Clean linens and personal items

This is the part of lice removal that can become a real nightmare. You feel so invaded and filthy you want to do a complete spring cleaning. Strip all the beds and pillows. Wash and dry your linens at high heat. Vacuum the bed, pillows, carpets, etc. Throw all the stuffed animals into a plastic bag and keep them sealed for 2 weeks. Phew! I’m exhausted just writing this list!

Doing all these house keeping tasks are important, mostly for your peace of mind as lice cannot live long off a human head. But you don’t get carried away. You should allocate 10% of your time and energy to cleaning the house and 90% to the actual removal.

Lice are enough to make you want to pull your hair out, literally, but don’t let them get under your skin.

5. Keep the lice out once and for all!

Comb through your child’s head every 2 to 3 days for a least 10 days to make sure you’ve gotten rid of all of the nits. This is a time consuming process, but well worth it.

You can also apply rosemary or tea tree oil behind your child’s ears and at the base of the neck which are the favorite areas for lice to attach their nits. Lice do not like either of those smells and will stay away. You can also find a rosemary shield or conditioning spray as a protective measure. This is a good thing to do if your child has not gotten lice yet but others in her class have.

For a few weeks, you may also want to pull up your child’s hair in a pony tail to minimize the chance she’ll catch lice from a friend. Make sure she also knows not to share, hats, hair brushes or other personal items with friends, something little girls just love to do!

Before you cry victory, check all the heads in your family to make sure everyone is clear.

Although there really isn’t anything fun about dealing with head lice, you can keep your sanity and get rid of them without having to resort to shaving your child’s head! For some reason or another, some kids never get lice. I can’t say we’ve been that lucky. But if you handle things calmly and methodically you will get rid of those impostors and go back to life as you love it!
